They are fundamentally different technologies serving different needs.
While connected to a USB power source, CryoTube™ maintains active refrigeration continuously — there is no time limit while powered. When disconnected from power, the vacuum insulation and included ice crystal column provide passive cooling as a backup for several hours. For maximum insulin safety, keep CryoTube™ connected to power whenever possible.
CryoTube™ is compatible with any standard USB-A power source. This includes laptop/desktop USB ports, power banks (any capacity), in-car USB ports, USB wall adapters (included in the kit), and USB-equipped airplane seat ports. The 3C plug and data cable included in the deluxe kit covers standard connections.
CryoTube™ actively refrigerates — it does not simply slow heat loss.
